Talk with Someone Receiving DBS

If you're considering Medtronic DBS Therapy for treatment of Parkinson's disease, sometimes it helps to talk with someone who is currently receiving DBS Therapy. DBS Therapy volunteers are not medical experts or Medtronic employees. They're people who are willing to talk with you about living with DBS Therapy.

You may want to ask them questions or hear about their experiences:

  • What was the procedure like?
  • What does stimulation feel like?
  • How has the treatment helped you?

To connect with a volunteer, fill in this form or call (877) 438-3574.

Meet Two of These Special Volunteers

Chatting during an online support group for people with young-onset Parkinson's disease, Karen and Jim realized they had a lot in common. Parkinson's disease had taken its toll on both their marriages, and both were frustrated with not being able to do the simplest tasks despite an endless combination of medications, timing changes, and dosage levels.

After supporting and understanding each other online, Karen and Jim met in person, fell in love, and got married. It was after this that they started investigating DBS Therapy (deep brain stimulation). Karen and Jim did some online research and watched the educational CD, and at first they felt reluctant.
